A work Christmas party alternative teams don't have to be talked into

If you're the person tasked with organising the end-of-year thing again, you already know the difficulty. The venue dinner is fine. The escape room excludes someone. Half the team is quietly hoping it finishes early. And most corporate Christmas gift ideas land as another hamper nobody remembers by January.

A group colour session is a different proposition, largely because everybody is getting something. It runs three to four hours, in our studio or on-site at your office in Sydney or Canberra, and each person is draped and diagnosed in front of the group. It turns out to be enormously entertaining to watch — people call out the moment a drape works, and they're usually right. Everyone leaves with their own season card and palette rather than a branded water bottle.

As a Christmas party alternative it has one practical advantage over dinner or drinks: it runs in business hours, nobody has to arrange a lift home, and it doesn't exclude the people on your team who don't drink.

For client-facing and on-camera teams there's a professional edge to it too, and we'll keep that claim narrow: it's about consistency and looking deliberate, not about colours making anyone more persuasive. Group sessions in Sydney

We run group sessions in our Sydney studio, or we'll come to your office anywhere in the metro area and set up in whatever room has the best natural light — a corner meeting room with north-facing windows is usually the winner. Sydney teams tend to book the on-site option, because it costs nobody a commute at the busiest time of year.

Group sessions in Canberra

Canberra teams looking for an end of year team activity that isn't another round of trivia can book us in-studio or on-site across the ACT. Public sector and agency teams often pair a session with an existing planning day, which works well: the colour session runs in the afternoon once the serious agenda is done.

Group sessions and corporate workshops are quoted per group. Tell us your headcount, your city and roughly what you're working with, and we'll come back with a number the same week.

If you'd rather not commit them to a date

Vouchers can be bought online and are sent digitally, so a gift bought on the 23rd still arrives on the 24th. The recipient books whenever suits them within 6 months of purchase.

We also have downloadable seasonal palette PDFs if you want a smaller gift, and existing clients can be given a 30-minute follow-up video call: they show us recent purchases, an outfit they're unsure about, or their makeup, and we help them apply their palette to it. That last one is only for people who've already been analysed, so it's a good add-on for someone you know has been.

A note on what we'll tell them

We're not going to hand anyone a list of colours to be afraid of. What people actually leave with is the opposite — a short, specific set of colours that lift them, and the confidence to walk past everything else without agonising.

Occasionally that means telling someone not to buy something. That's part of what you're paying for.

If you're the person holding the end-of-year budget, don't work through the individual booking page — it isn't built for you.

Send us a note instead and tell us four things: roughly how many people, Sydney or Canberra, whether you want colour analysis gift vouchers your team redeems in their own time or a single session everyone attends together, and the window you're working in. If you have a budget figure, include it. We'd rather shape something that fits it than send a quote that was never going to work.

We'll come back within a couple of business days with a number and one or two options, and we'll tell you honestly if what you're after isn't a good fit for a group of your size. Small teams sometimes do better with individual vouchers than a group session, and we'll say so.

November books out first, and December fills quickly after that. If it's on your list for this year, it's worth starting the conversation in October.
